Now more than ever we need to mind our mental health. With face-to-face sessions suspended, join me in The Weekly Catharsis - a project to help us connect and support ourselves and each other. Read more about it here. Alternatively, contact me to book online or telephone counselling/psychotherapy sessions.
This week's phrase: Coronavirus
"I'm not going to fix you; I'm going to empower you."
I am Laura Ryder, the founder of The Counselling Room.
I am a humanistic and integrative counsellor. That basically means I employ a range of techniques from approaches including psychodynamic, Gestalt therapy and CBT, but am primarily a person-centred counsellor who believes everyone - and therefore every counselling journey - is unique.
What can you expect
I promise to provide a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space where we can explore whatever is bothering you. I will help you in your search for a way to live well and become the best version of yourself. Together we will wander through your mind. I will not lead you to a solution, but I will be by your side as we figure out your best way forward. I will help to facilitate this process by being an unbiased ear: listening to you, reflecting back what I'm hearing and questioning what I may not understand. Throughout the process you can count on me for compassionate straight talking - on your side in the best way possible.
The good news is that as a team we will figure out your best path, tailor made just for you. The bad news is this means some hard work on your part, taking a very active part in the process. The hard work will be worth it however.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY
“An incredible listener. Kind, patient, extremely insightful. I have no hesitation in recommending Laura.”
One-to-one counselling sessions for clients aged 18+
Counselling from the comfort of your own home
Just like one-to-one counselling, but in nature as we walk at your pace as opposed to in an office.
Explore your relationship together in a safe space
Counselling sessions are usually weekly and run for 50 minutes. The cost per session is €50. The number of sessions you need or would like to commit to can be discussed at our first meeting, and revisited as our work progresses.
To keep my services accessible to people in all financial positions I reserve a number of sessions each week for reduced cost counselling. Should this be something you're interested in please mention this when you contact me.
Should you need to cancel an arranged session you should do so at least 24 hours prior to the arranged session time. Short notice cancellations and no-shows are liable to incur a cancellation charge of the full session fee.
Cash and all major credit and debit cards are accepted.
